Built-In Bookshelves

Built-In Bookshelves are some of the biggest space savers when it comes to small rooms – or for any room for that matter. Depending on the depth of the bookshelf and the materials it’s made out of, they can be fabricated and placed in a wall relatively cheaply and easily.

Though, exterior wall mounted shelves are not a good idea, because they reduce the insulation of the outside wall with the outside world.

Below are several photos of what others have done with their bookshelves. Enjoy.

Crown Molding

Crown Molding, the loveliest piece to accent any room in your house. It’s also the most dreaded and according to most people the hardest part of the house to wrap their minds around. Looking at it, crown molding would seem to be simple inside and outside corner cuts, similar to base boards or molding for doors and windows – but it isn’t.

As you can see above, there are tons of different types of crown molding. So many in fact, a lot of companies simply number the product, rather than give it a name.

Do you know what the most common mistake about installing crown molding is? Once people figure out how to make their cuts – they tend to install the molding upside down. When you go to purchase your molding from the hardware store – before you wall out the door – ask which end is the top and which is the bottom. You may be a little embarrassed, but you need to know which end goes up.

New Front Doors

In a recent poll, people were asked what they were going to do with their tax returns this year. While most people claimed to use the money to pay off debt or place it in savings; a small percentage said they would use the money to do home improvements. Which home improvement came in first place? Getting a new front door.

Below are photos of beautiful front doors that could be on your home.

While most people in the survey specified a METAL FRONT DOOR, we were only able to put together photos of several wooden ones.

Think about this though, if someone was trying to break into your home, having to break through either metal or wood – You’re gonna hear it…unless you’re already in a coma.
